CP 5.51. The majority of discoveries, however, have been the result of experimentation. Now no man makes an experiment without being more or less inclined to think that an interesting result will ensue; for experiments are much too costly of physical and psychical energy to be undertaken at random and aimlessly. And naturally nothing can possibly be learned from an experiment that turns out just as was anticipated. It is by surprises that experience teaches all she deigns to teach us. END

Is a scientific discovery that was unanticipated new knowledge or simply the unveiling of what was already the case? This is a trick question. Clearly this references science and physicality. I am prepared to guess that there is no aspect of measurable physicality that is not discoverable as knowledge that would be there all along. Such newness as the is is our inferences and applications but only time has been involved is allowing truth to rise,

How then might the One who could be believed to be the mind that is the foundation and source of consciousness have interest in such discovery? My guess is that interest is in an entirely different human activity that is entirely unpredictable. That is the realm of thought and feeling that is not measurable. It is we that are of interest and it is our feelings, reactions and thoughts that constitute the actual stuff of information.

We may be surprised by some new fuel or something that suddenly saves us from carbon death, but if heaven is ever surprised, it may have a frequency that would surprise us. There is nothing more interesting or random than human conclusions, reactions and ideas.
