CP 7.575. But, further, synechism recognizes that the carnal consciousness is but a small part of the man. There is, in the second place, the social consciousness, by which a man's spirit is embodied in others, and which continues to live and breathe and have its being very much longer than superficial observers think....
CP 7.576 576. Nor is this, by any means, all. A man is capable of a spiritual consciousness, which constitutes him one of the eternal verities, which is embodied in the universe as a whole. This as an archetypal idea can never fail; and in the world to come is destined to a special spiritual embodiment. END

Peirce devotes as much of a third of his philosophy to what we could understand as teleology -- a sense of where things are moving, of ends, of destinies. If he does not offer a full set of ideas about realms that are spiritual, he lets us know he is not merely making spirituality a token reference. It probably would have taken Peirce twice his lifetime even to outline his vision. As  it is we have notes that exceed in interest, I believe, the unpublished thinking and the published but never issued nachloss of Wittgenstein and Nietzsche. The mental acuity of those whose thoughts were turned mystical by the advent of the 20th Century is amazing and includes to a man the first developers of quantum theory.

We have manifold testimony if spirit communication between earth and a beyond which more and more now claim to have encountered. Peirce had only inklings of what anyone can find in profusion on the Internet.

It is clear to me that the work of moving to  the level of thinking in Peirce, however it relates to his own thoughts, is monumental and must initially fuse the need for scientific method and what Peirce saw as a kernel of gold within the dross of metaphysical speculation.
